Leisure Complex in Marlow, Bucks
A major annex of over 300m2, with office space, gymnasium, recording studio, 5 double garages and hard standing. This complemented a swimming pool with landscaped areas which we had completed earlier.
Construction was carried out entirely by Lifestyle-Construction’s team of craftsmen, who overcame significant engineering and construction challenges.
The new building was sited within a former quarry, with a steep hillside behind. In order to secure the hillside, piles were taken down to a depth of 15 metres. A ring beam was then cast on top to hold all together, the piles sprayed with concrete before application of Vandex waterproofing agent to ensure the retaining wall would be watertight.
Access was another issue, with only limited access onto the site, which was bounded also by the river. Spoil was therefore taken out via the river, by barge. Roof trusses had to be craned in individually.
The slideshow moves through the project, from the four broken-down garages on the site at the outset, to the stunning final shots, and a complex that anyone would be proud of.
